Getting the Most From Flickr
If you use flickr to store and share your photos, you already know that it is a great way to share your images with other people. What many people are unaware of, however, is that you can quantify where those people are coming from to determine how effective your various other sites are in driving flickr traffic. For instance, say I post an image on my blog and in a forum. I get 60 hits. Did those come from flickr users? My blog readers? Forum posters? To find this information, click on one of your flickr photos. On the right hand side, just above the number of times the photo has been viewed, there is a link that says "Photo Stats". Click that link to be taken to a page where you can turn statistic tracking on. Once it has taken effect (this takes a day or two), come back to the photo and click on "Photo Stats" again. This time you will be taken to a screen that shows a graph indicating when those visits occurred, as well as a list of what sites people came to your picture from. Clicking on the referrer takes you to a new page that shows exactly what web address (ie: which blog posting or forum thread) those visits came from. |
